Successful Neighbor’s Night Out

It was great to see all of the neighbors come out and enjoy each other’s company for Neighbors Night Out. The Police and Fire Department were excited about coming. Even two patrolmen who were just in the area ended up staying for the whole event!

If you missed it, we had music, a bounce house, bingo, hot dogs and a lot of fun for all ages!

A special “Thank you” to all the volunteers that helped make it a successful event!

Look forward to doing it again next year! Dont miss it!

Support Our Fire Department: Water Donations Needed!

Neighbors night out is coming soon, we have started to collect bottle water donations for the fire department. In the past we have donated a minimum of 10 cases. Let’s see if we can match it or exceed it this year!

Thank you in advance!

Station 34 greatly appreciates it.

A HHSNA Neighbors Night Out Story

For those of you that are new to the neighborhood, approximately 7 years ago, we tried something new for Harvest Hills South Neighbors Night Out by creating one location and having a Block Party!

It was a great experience, especially for two ladies who have lived in the neighborhood for over 20 years. These two ladies were the best of friends in college, graduated, got married and over the years went their separate ways. Jobs changed and families grew. Life took over and so their daily, weekly talks got to be less and less since they had moved away. Phone calls changed to letter writing once a month and then only to birthday cards and Christmas cards, until they lost touch all together.

Years had passed and they both had lost their husbands. But it was ironic that each found a home here in Harvest Hills South. But they had lost touch with their best friend and had no idea that they were living in the same neighborhood only one street way from each other.

Fast forward, Harvest Hills South started our first block party and I wish I still had the picture of when they saw each other again for the first time after 20yrs! They spent the whole night catching up, laughing and sharing pictures of their families. They missed out on being in each other lives for all those years. But since that time, they have been making up for it. It was like they were never apart. These two ladies have since gotten up in years and have gone to live with their children. They remain close and their children help them to stay in contact and take them to go visit each other.

You never know who you might meet at Neighbors Night Out. It could be a long lost friend or maybe even the love of your life!

We hope to see you there. September 9th, from 6-8 pm on NW79th Street and Harvest Hills Rd.

Mark your calendars! September 9th, 6-8pm

Citywide!

Save the date and prepare to party during the year’s Neighbors Night Out! NNO is a unique event where neighborhoods across the city host block parties, ice cream socials and other activities with public safety officers. The event celebrates community spirit through building social connection while working to prevent crime.

We will have a bounce house, games, and the video truck is returning! We will serve hot dogs/chips  and have a Taco Truck!

There will also be LIVE MUSIC! You may have seen them performing at Scissortail Park. They are the “Fried Okies!” They play 50’s, 60’s and 70’s music! They also have a gig coming up at the Oklahoma Opry and at Reba’s!
