Neighbors Night Out is Tuesday September 10th. We can’t wait to see you all!

Neighbors –

We are needing volunteers to run the stations at neighbors night out. We need enough people to run each station in 15 minute increments. Feel free to sign up for more than 1 station! This will allow everyone to volunteer & still be able to mingle & enjoy the night.

People are needed to grill the hot dogs, make s’mores, sno cones, monitor the bounce house, run the photo booth, man kid games, & sign in tables.

Please reach out to us with which station & time slot you would like to sign up for! The event runs from 6-8pm

It’s that time again!

Last year was such a huge success with having a block party that we’ll be doing it again! We’re all ready for sno cones, s’mores, bounce house, hot dogs, games, etc…

When Kevin and I were coming up with names for our new business we thought of many generic type names like Plant Helper and Plant Love and Care. Then I saw a Dragonfly in our back yard and told Kevin how about “Dragonfly Plant Maintenance”. Dragonfly spiritually means to live one’s life to the fullest, and though I’m retired I am not ready to not live my life in that way.

We live in a service aged society and we at Dragonfly Plant Maintenance want to serve you with your yard & landscaping needs. We will plant your flower beds, pots, and planters. We will even purchase these plants. Then on top of that we will care for them by watering, dead heading, weeding, and replacing any plants that may need replaced – at clients expense. Dragonfly will care for your plants (exterior or interior) while away on business or vacation, or if you just don’t have the time or the expertise to care for them. We will also landscape your yard if you’re looking for a new look or making improvements to your homes landscaping. Curb appeal is always the first thing people notice about your home, so be sure to budget for new plants, flowers, & landscaping needs.

I have over 50 years’ experience working in flower and vegetable gardens in Ok’s hot summers. I received my Master Gardeners certificate around 2000 from OSU. I also have 5 years’ experience working as a horticulturalist at a tropical plant greenhouse here in OKC. Always remember that your landscape – flowers, trees, and shrubs – is an investment to your home. If your desire is to improve your landscape and need someone to do it for you, Dragonfly Plant Maintenance is the one.

There are other areas we may eventually undertake with Dragonfly; such as caring for pets while on vacation, decorating your home seasonally for the holidays, and running errands for the elderly.

Not all people have the love for flowers and gardening as I have. But I come by it naturally, my grandfather from Leon, KA raised a half acre garden and had beautiful flower gardens and worked those gardens until he was 90 yrs. young.

As the 4th approaches, keep in mind that fireworks are prohibited in OKC. Please be considerate of your neighbors & pets.

Do you have a spare hour or two, whether it is once a week, or once a month? We need more patrollers!

Your patrollers have been patrolling your neighborhood for over a year. The more patrollers the less often a patrollers need to be on the schedule.  We have morning, afternoon and evening shifts available. We will work with your schedule. We just need your help to be able to keep patrolling. We are short a few patrollers being out on vacation. There is a class with OKC PD at Hefner Station on June 11, 2019. THINGS TO KNOW TODAY, sharing from the OKC Fire Dept

• There has been plenty of early warning about the possibility of severe weather today, including potential tornadoes. Now it is up to you to be prepared.

• There are no public storm shelters in OKC. Watch this if you’re not sure what to do when tornado sirens activate – http://www.okc.gov/prepare/#pubshelters

• Fire Stations in Oklahoma City are NOT public shelters.

• If you hear a tornado siren in OKC, it means that there is a threat nearby or approaching your location. Take shelter immediately!

• Hail is possible today – Do NOT park under bridges or overpasses. This causes a very dangerous traffic problem and delays first responders who are trying to get to people in need of help.

• Power lines down – Do not drive over downed power lines. Do not touch downed power lines or anything else they are touching (such as fences or cars). Stay completely away from downed lines.

• Do not drive into high water. If you can’t see the street below, you should not drive through it.

If you still have things you would like to donate, please bring them over or contact us & we can make arrangements to come pick them up.

Thank you to all the neighbors that provided donations! We have a great start to our ‘Dream Big’ fund! We even had people who didn’t find anything they needed, but still provided a donation to our worthwhile cause 🙂
