Crime prevention through environmental design is the idea that proper use of design in a built environment can deter criminal activity. This info from the OKCPD is to help us make the best decisions for our property.

Welcome to our series of tips to keep your home looking less appealing to those who are up to no good. This information was presented by our local community OKCPD officer MSgt Skalla at a neighborhood meeting and we want to make sure these tips are in all of our minds as we move into a higher crime season. Follow along as we highlight a tip each week to keep our community safe.

Are you interested in taking a step toward neighborhood safety by volunteering in our neighborhood as a patroller? These volunteers need to attend a class to learn about how to best be the eyes and ears of our area for the police department as well as deterring crime by having an extra barrier of supervision. Trainings brought to you by nacok.org and OKC Police.

Notify Jaci or Tom Maquire harvesthillssouth@gmail.com if you want to attend and they will enroll you to reserve a seat.
At this event we were joined by MSgt Skalla to discuss home security and ways we can keep our area crime free. If you were unable to attend we are sad you missed such a great speaker but we will be sending out some of the tips right here in the blog very soon so keep your eyes peeled as we move into the higher crime time of year.
As temps rise the petty crime rates rise and so it is up to all of us to find ways to deter crime through things like Environmental design as well as making sure we have an active crime watch patrol who is trained through the OKCPD. These classes are free and help educate our crime patrol on procedures as well as to build a relationship with the community police to be the eyes and ears of law enforcement. The next class will be April 13th 6:30-7:30 at the Hefner Police Division. Please reach out if this is something you want to attend.
